In most developments, we collect meter readings remotely using a data collection system.
Here’s how it works:
- Meters are linked by a wired or wireless network to a central point called a data logger (larger sites may use more than one).
- The data logger sends the readings to us through either:
- GSM – a secure mobile phone signal, similar to how text messages are sent
- ADSL - a standard broadband internet connection
- The readings are then processed by our software and added to your account.
Different systems are used across developments, but this is the most common setup
