I've had an engineer visit. What happens next?

  • Updated

Thanks for taking the time to meet with our engineer.

During the visit, they checked the equipment in your home and left you with a leaflet explaining why they visited and whether any further action is needed.

In many cases, that’s all there is to it.

If we need to carry out any further work, repair or replace equipment, we’ll be in touch to let you know what happens next.

What can I do now?

There are a couple of simple things you can do to help keep your bills accurate:

Keep your meter switched on

If you have a heat meter or prepayment meter, please keep it switched on at all times and do not tamper with it.

Keeping your meter powered on allows us to receive regular meter readings and helps ensure your account stays up to date. If your meter loses power, we may not be able to receive readings and may need to arrange a visit to investigate the issue.

Keep an eye out for ‘catch up’ bills

If your heat meter has recently been repaired or replaced, you may notice a change to your bill. This is because we’re now receiving accurate readings from your meter and may need to update your account to reflect your actual energy use.

Sometimes this can result in a catch up bill. You can find out more about catch up bills here.

There’s no need to worry – if you have any questions, our Customer Care team is here to help and can talk you through your bill.
